DESTINATION GUIDE · 2026 / 2027 PLANNING

Study in
Türkiye.

Türkiye—also commonly searched as Turkey—has a government scholarship route with its own university choices and selection stages, alongside separate university admissions and awards. Start by deciding which route you are taking. Check degree, age, academic and language requirements before preparing the evidence that makes your application distinctive.

Plan with an expert
Government route

Türkiye Scholarships uses its own online application and selection process.

Separate route

Direct university applications and institution-funded places follow the university’s rules.

Language planning

The scholarship’s Turkish-language requirements and the degree’s teaching language must be checked separately.

01 / TIMING WITH CONTEXT

Know the windows.
Plan the work before them.

These dates do different jobs. A typical window helps you plan; only the applicable official call sets your deadline.

Planning recommendation

Autumn preparation

Check your age, degree stage, grades, programme options and required documents before the main competition.

Provider’s annual calendar

Main recurring application window

The official calendar lists 10 January–20 February. The 2026 round is closed; use the next announcement for its confirmed cycle.

Provider’s annual calendar

Evaluation and interviews

The provider’s calendar places evaluation in March–April and interviews in April–June. Invitations determine an applicant’s actual schedule.

Provider’s annual calendar

Results and preparation

The published calendar places results in August and arrival in September; follow the individual award instructions.

Institution-specific

University-specific routes

Direct university and research award deadlines can differ from the Türkiye Scholarships calendar.

More than one way
to fund your studies.

03

University graduate scholarships

Institutional graduate awards and research support depend on the university, degree and selection outcome.

Your next action: Read the department’s written funding terms; an admission offer alone should not be interpreted as a stipend.

04

Institutional merit awards

Direct-admission awards may reduce tuition or provide additional support under institution-specific conditions.

Your next action: Check whether consideration is automatic or requires another application and confirm continuation rules.

04 / PREPARE THE EVIDENCE

The budget.
The documents. The details.

Read each award component

Check tuition, accommodation, stipend, insurance, language preparation and travel against the actual award terms.

Allow for personal expenses

Budget for document preparation, travel-related costs and living expenses before scheduled support begins.

Separate admission routes

A privately funded or direct-university place can have a very different fee and living-cost structure from a government scholarship.

Your starting document checklist

Use this to organise the file; the provider’s current requirements determine the final list.

  • Passport or accepted identity evidence and a recent photograph.
  • School or degree certificates, full transcripts and grading information.
  • Required examination results and programme-language evidence.
  • A truthful account of academic, professional, leadership or community experience.
  • Study objectives and motivation responses tailored to the programme choices.
  • For doctoral applications, the requested research proposal and writing sample.
  • Formal award, enrolment, insurance and residence documents at the appropriate later stage.

05 / FROM SHORTLIST TO ARRIVAL

One clear step
at a time.

Use the checklist to keep your own place. These are preparation milestones, not a substitute for official approval.

01

Choose the government or direct-university route

Decide whether you are applying through Türkiye Scholarships or directly to an institution. The government scholarship system and a university’s admission portal are not interchangeable. Record where each application goes and what decision it can produce.

Compare degree content, teaching language and subject prerequisites before selecting institutions. For a graduate research route, identify the department and methods that fit your preparation. Keep a clear reason for each programme choice so your application explains an academic plan rather than simply a desire to move abroad.

02

Check the criteria before drafting essays

Read the official degree-level, age and academic criteria carefully. Check restrictions on study fields and prior or current study status. Do not assume a strong motivation letter can replace a mandatory condition.

Use your transcript and official grading information to assess what evidence you can provide, but leave formal equivalence decisions to the provider. Check whether your proposed course requests additional examinations or language results. A clear eligibility check saves time that would otherwise be spent on an application the programme cannot consider.

03

Build a calendar around the actual competition

Use the official annual calendar to organise preparation, then read the next cycle’s announcement for confirmed dates and instructions. Keep application, interview, results and arrival as separate milestones. A typical annual window does not guarantee your individual interview date.

Give yourself time for records, translations, language evidence and thoughtful programme choices. For direct-university applications, use the institution’s own dates instead of the scholarship calendar. Save the official call with your tracker so changes can be checked against a reliable reference.

04

Develop a focused study and scholarship case

Explain the connection between your previous education, the proposed degree and a realistic future contribution. Use specific examples from your own academic or professional work. Choose programme preferences that make sense together instead of listing unrelated subjects only because they appear available.

For doctoral study, develop a feasible research question and explain the methods you would need. Review the required research proposal and writing-sample instructions. Keep support with drafting or feedback within the provider’s rules, and make sure you understand and approve every statement in the application.

05

Prepare documents and language evidence

Build a complete file using the official application checklist. Check that names, dates and qualifications agree across certificates, transcripts and online answers. Upload readable documents in the required format and keep the originals unchanged.

Check both the degree’s teaching language and the scholarship’s language obligations. English-medium study does not automatically remove every Turkish-language requirement attached to a government award. Plan for required language preparation rather than discovering it after accepting a place. For direct admission, confirm the institution’s own accepted evidence.

06

Submit through the official system and retain control

Use the official application platform linked by the provider, review every section and save the submission confirmation. Türkiye Scholarships applications are free through the official route; a paid adviser does not create priority or guarantee selection.

Keep access to your own email and application account. Check for additional requests and follow the provider’s contact instructions. When using help, approve the final application yourself and avoid sharing passwords unnecessarily. A completed university application does not automatically submit a government scholarship application.

07

Prepare for selection and interpret the award correctly

Review the study plan and evidence you submitted before any interview. Be ready to explain your choices, preparation and research interests accurately. Respond to invitations according to the provider’s instructions and keep copies of official communications.

After selection, read the award, placement and acceptance conditions together. Confirm the institution, degree, language preparation and support components. A preliminary result or encouraging interview should not be treated as a final award. Build a plan for uncovered costs before accepting commitments.

08

Plan enrolment and the required immigration steps

Use official migration guidance and the competent mission to determine entry and residence requirements for your nationality and programme. Keep formal admission or scholarship evidence available and coordinate with the university’s international office.

A student residence process is distinct from academic registration and may require insurance, address and other supporting evidence. Check the current procedure rather than relying on someone else’s experience. For a complex personal case, seek the competent authority’s advice or an authorised professional rather than treating a scholarship guide as immigration approval.

09

Arrive with a plan for study and scholarship continuity

Confirm arrival dates, accommodation, language-course arrangements and orientation before travelling. Bring accessible copies of official documents and check which originals the institution will inspect at registration.

Record the award’s attendance, academic progress and reporting requirements. Keep your local contact and address information current in the relevant systems. For graduate work, agree supervision and early milestones; for language preparation, understand the progression requirements before the degree begins. Ask for help early when practical problems affect your study.

07 / A LITTLE MORE CLARITY

Questions worth asking.

Is Turkey the same destination as Türkiye?

Yes. Türkiye is the country name used here; “Turkey” remains available as a search term in the guide directory.

Is the official Türkiye Scholarships application paid?

The official application is free. Optional advisory services are separate and cannot guarantee selection.

Does an English-taught degree remove Turkish-language preparation?

Not automatically. The government scholarship’s own language conditions must be checked separately from the degree language.
